Urdu meetings, written in Urdu.

Urdu (اردو) is one of four languages EchoPilot verifies end to end, alongside English, Arabic and Hindi. It also comes with a problem no language list mentions, and EchoPilot deals with it before a word of your minutes is written.

The script problem

In everyday speech, Hindi and Urdu are one language written in two scripts. Speech recognition hears the words, not the reader, so it has to pick a script, and an Urdu speaker can easily be handed a transcript and minutes in Devanagari they do not read.

EchoPilot asks instead. Choose Urdu once in Settings, under Meeting Language, on your phone or the web, and every meeting follows it: the title, the summary, the chapters, the key points, the action items, your highlights and the transcript, all in Urdu script. A Hindi title can never sit above an Urdu summary, because the whole meeting follows one choice. Leave the setting on Ask me and you can switch a single meeting from its own page or its transcript instead.

The choice changes how the meeting is written, not what was said. Nothing is recorded or processed again, it costs nothing, and a meeting recorded before you chose is written in Urdu the moment you open it. It is not the translation feature, and it never touches a meeting in any other language.

What verified means

A real Urdu recording was taken through every stage: speech to text, the Meeting Minutes and the action items drawn from them, Ask, translation and export, and the honest fallback when speakers cannot be told apart. Every stage passed, and the run is recorded with its date. Languages that have not had that run are labelled best effort in the app.

Urdu, set as Urdu

Urdu content is set in Nafees Web Naskh, a typeface designed for Urdu, reading right to left with the title starting from the right, on iPhone, Android and the web. An Urdu sentence that opens with an English company name still reads right to left, and the app around the meeting keeps its own direction, so an English interface is never flipped.

PDF exports carry the same typeface and direction, with action items keeping their checkboxes on the right, so the document you send reads as Urdu.

Urdu and English in one meeting

Most working meetings in Urdu borrow English: a job title, a product, a number, a whole sentence. The transcript keeps each word in the language it was spoken in, rather than forcing the meeting into one, and every line plays its moment in the recording.

An Urdu meeting stays Urdu

The Meeting Minutes are written in the language of the meeting. For a colleague who reads English, translate the minutes on Pro; the translation sits beside the Urdu original and never replaces it, and the transcript stays exactly as it was spoken.

From the meeting to the follow-up

Every commitment becomes an action card in Urdu script, with a destination already chosen: a task, a calendar event, or a WhatsApp message written and ready for you to send. Ask answers questions about the meeting and cites the moment it used. Nothing is created until you approve it.
